When I signed up for the NC TLC Trust Mount Kilimanjaro Trek I didn’t really have an idea of how mentally and physically challenging it would be. It was the experience of a lifetime challenging myself, making great new friends and of course being able to raise money for a very worthwhile cause. It was the most wonderful and emotional experience I have had. We had some fantastic guides to help us through the long days trekking ‘pole-pole’ meaning slow slow, because that’s exactly what it was, very, very slow walking in order to acclimatise and finally reaching the top after 4 days, a few sleepless nights, loss of appetite’s, many toilet trips (for some!) and a very long, cold and dark summit night of 11 hours! It was one of the most surreal moments reaching the top and I could not have been more proud of my amazing friends and myself. We all did an incredible thing and I would not want to change my experience for the world, Thanks NC TLC Trust for the opportunity of a lifetime and to make a difference to the charity!

The charity allotment gives children the chance to help them develop a better understanding of how things grow, and they really enjoy digging and planting. It also benefits them for outdoors learning. Alistair McCarter and TJ Smith at the allotment (pictured  above)

We love to bake cakes

“We love to bake cakes so every year in the six weeks holiday we go to work with mum to sell cakes at Nationwide Building Society in Moulton Park to raise money for charity. I had cancer when I was 2 years old and NCTLC have always made me and my sister smile by letting us go to special parties and princess days with them and they also helped mum and dad to not feel sad when I was poorly. We raised £783.64 with the help of Nationwide which we want to give to NCTLC to help them make other poorly children smile too.
